Silk Scarves, Cozy Wraps and Colorful Squares

The silk scarves here come mostly from Ardmore, the South African brand behind patterns like Phinda Pride and Hoopoe Hop, in colors from flamingo and paradise to rust, emerald and jade. The Ardmore silk twills, at 86 cm and 165 cm, are the most approachable way to start, from $195, while the 90 cm silk scarves are statement pieces at $500 to $565. Colombian brand Muzaluci makes silky scarves in 28 x 28 inch squares, with prints named Aurora, Desierto, Helechos and Colombian Flowers, for $185, along with smaller 17 and 18 inch squares for $85.

If you're looking for a scarf that can also keep you warm, the Ardmore wraps are a good choice. The Phinda Pride Safari Wrap in a wool and modal blend comes in mist and mahogany, and the Protea Plains Wrap comes in dusk and stone, both at 135 cm and between $590 and $630. Whether you're after a silk scarf or a larger wrap, women's scarves are one of the easiest ways to bring color to an outfit you already own.

Wearing a Scarf Beyond the Neck

A scarf goes further than a knot at the neck. A smaller square can be tied loosely at the collar, worn in your hair, or knotted onto the handle of a leather handbag, and a longer twill can be draped over the shoulders in the evening. Because each print is bold on its own, a simple outfit is often all you need.

Scarves also make an easy gift for a birthday, the holidays or a thank-you, since there’s no size to get wrong, and both Muzaluci and Ardmore scarves come beautifully packaged, so they’re ready to give. The smaller Muzaluci squares are a lovely gift at $85, and an Ardmore silk scarf is a piece she'll wear for years. Colors and prints look different in person, so stop by 1337 Main Street in St. Helena to see them in the light, and our team can help you choose one that suits her.

Frequently Asked Questions

We carry silk scarves, silk twills, wool and modal wraps from Ardmore and printed squares from Muzaluci. Prices run from $85 to $630.

A silk twill scarf is made from silk woven in a twill weave, which gives the fabric a smooth surface and a soft drape. Ardmore's silk twills here come in 86 cm and 165 cm sizes.

Sizes vary by style: Muzaluci's large squares are 28 x 28 inches and its smaller ones 17 or 18 inches, Ardmore's silk scarves are 90 cm (about 35 inches), and its wraps are 135 cm (about 53 inches). Each product page lists the size.

A wrap is larger and drapes more generously than a scarf, so it can also be worn over the shoulders for extra warmth.

Fold it and tie it at the neck, wear it in your hair, or knot it onto a bag handle. A smaller square is easiest to tie, while a longer twill can be draped or wrapped twice.
